Meta Memory

Heather and Lukmou are creative technologists whose practice explores the implications of our technocentric society through immersive, interactive installations. Their critical use of digital mediums offer an alternative lens, challenging the dominant narratives of progress and productivity pushed onto us by Big Tech.

Meta Memory is an interactive VR installation created using Unreal Engine, Deepseek, and real-world 3D scans sourced from Polycam. Inspired by digital sustainability and dark data, the piece highlights our over-dependence on digital platforms to store our very existence. The piece depicts obsolete and forgotten digital artefacts as nonsensical memories. On each interaction, the viewer’s perception gradually degrades, illustrating the computational demands of exponential data storage.
