This hands-on workshop introduces participants to Cables.gl, a powerful web-based platform for creating real-time, interactive visual content using a node-based interface. Designed for creatives of all skill levels — from beginners to experienced coders — the session will guide participants through the fundamentals of visual programming and generative art in the browser.

We’ll start by exploring the core families of operators in Cables.gl and learn how to build a basic pipeline for creating dynamic, procedural graphics. Through intuitive visual patching, participants will create generative artwork, gaining insight into the logic behind real-time visuals and techniques for interactive design.

By the end of the session, participants will have:

  • A solid understanding of the Cables.gl interface and workflow
  • Built a functional patch using key node categories (geometry, materials, transforms, etc.)
  • Learned strategies for experimentation, iteration, and sharing their creations online

This workshop is ideal for artists, designers, and anyone curious about creative coding — no prior coding experience required.

Workshop requirements

  • laptop with recently updated browser
