Portrait Painter Robot
Liquid Experimental Media
Presented by the collective Liquid Experimental Media, this live demonstration showcases the Portrait Painter Robot, created by José Salatino. This brush plotter acts as an extension of the artist’s hand, embodying the collective’s philosophy of using technology to enhance the tangible—allowing digital processes to support, rather than replace, physical outcomes.
During the demo, we’ll guide you step-by-step through the transformation of a digital file into a physical artwork. The Portrait Painter Robot is unique in its ability to produce a rich spectrum of colours from a minimal palette, highlighting what happens when technological design is driven by artistic needs.
The session aims to spark conversation around the relationship between art and technology. We’ll also share our Plotter Spectrum zine—created to connect with the global plotter community and to encourage dialogue on multidisciplinary creative processes in the digital age.

About Liquid Experimental Media
Liquid Experimental Media is a creative lab where ideas flow freely. At the heart of their work is research into technology as a catalyst for emotion, using digital media to amplify experiences and leave lasting impressions on those who encounter them.
Their practice explores human–machine interactions where the digital recedes into the background, giving space to relationships, the tangible, listening, the everyday, the pause, observation—and ultimately, the human.
Surrounding their core work is a constellation of projects that foster knowledge exchange, encounters with other artists, and collaborations that expand their perspectives. They openly share what inspires and challenges them—what provokes questions and unsettles assumptions.
Through their work, Liquid Experimental Media invites reflection, curiosity, and deeper engagement with technology, art, and multidisciplinary creation.
