Introduction to Robotics

Ivan Iovine is an interaction designer, researcher, and artist based in Frankfurt am Main. His artistic and media practices extend across robotics, machine learning, biomimetics, and more-than-human practices. He uses emerging technologies to blend virtual and physical worlds, creating speculative scenarios that highlight challenges and issues of our relationship with technology and nature. He has exhibited his work in various international festivals and museums such as Piksel Festival (NO - 2020/22), Dortmunder U (DE - 2020) and Run Run Shaw Creative Media Centre (HK - 2021), Die Digitale (DE - 2021), CENART (MX - 2023), WIP Festival (CY, 2023), CICA Museum (KR, 2023) and Cairotronica (EGY - late 2024). He has been invited to participate in design and artistic residencies by organizations such as Arduino(led by Sterling, Tesanovic and Banzi, IT - 2016), AIR NÖE (AT - 2024), and BEK (NO - 2024). He has written artistic and scientific publications for conferences like "Art Machines 2: International Symposium on Machine Learning and Art" (CityU Hong Kong - 2021) and "State of Interim" (HFBK Hamburg - 2022), “No-Machines” (Bauhaus-University Weimar) and educational paper about the integration of robotics and artificial intelligence in an educational art context at INFORMATIK2023 (GI - HTW Berlin - 2023). In addition to his artistic activities, he is the head of the robotics lab at the HfG Offenbach, lecturing on robotics, machine learning and computer vision.
